Web Mastering
The job of the web master is to maintaining the web pages, making modifications, and improvements as necessary. This could involve as little as a few hours every few months to as much as several hours per month. Depending on one's interest, abilities, and time allocation, web mastering one's own web site may or may not be appropriate.
Once the web site is designed, it will need to be placed on the hosting computer. This is done with a technique called FTP. As time goes on, changes will need to be made to the various web pages (HTML skills come in handy here). Someone will have to edit the web pages and then transfer them to the hosting computer. If a shopping cart or some other web application is part of the website, programming skills might also be needed to maintain and update the website. New graphics or artwork may require skills with jpeg and bmp files.
724StoreFront.com has the experts, the skills, and the experience to work with you and to provide the web mastering services that you need and want. For pricing visit our

Sample Web pages

We have been creating web pages since before they were called web pages. In the beginning there were Bulletin Board Service (BBS) from there evolved static web pages. These are web pages that do not change automatically and there is no interaction. These pages work great for certain types of information. Next came interactive web pages. Examples of these are shopping carts, search engines, and up to the minute news reporting web sites.

Graphics has also changed from simple art work to a wide range of options. Today, we can offer:
  • Computer generated graphics
  • Animated Graphics
  • Photographs
  • Movies
  • Flash technology
  • Live video feed
The one thing that we need to remember is that we need to communicate with our customers. Graphics can add much to a web site, but too much or inappropriate graphics can take away from the site. In designing a web site, we need to ask ourselves standard business questions.
  • Who are our customers?
  • What message do we want to convey?
  • What product or service are we selling?
  • Is the graphics helping us convey or message?
To often, computer people want to show off their computer skills with fancy sites without understanding the customer's needs or the marketing objective.

We have years of Internet marketing experience. We are also continually researching Internet marketing techniques in addition to subscribing to various Internet marketing newsletters.

Some of our clients have been generous enough to give us permission to showcase our work. These are samples of their sites at various times in the past. Their sites may have changed since then, but these samples will give you examples of our capabilities. Keep in mind, that we can also do customized sites. Sample web pages.

Web Applications

We have researched the web and evaluated many programs. Our recommendations are listed below. For most projects, public Domain software is the ideal choice. We would be happy to assist you with these programs or any other of your choice.

It has been said that the future of the Internet is dynamic and interactive web sites. 724StoreFront.com has been helping companies do this since the mid 90's. An online shopping cart is a common example. So are search engines like Yahoo and Google.

A web based e-mail program could be your first step. Your employees could access their company e-mail from any computer connected to the Internet. They could receive e-mail from the office, at home, on the road, or even at a client's site.

An automated mailing list program could be used to help you stay in touch with your client base. Customers could automatically be sent promotional or seasonal related information. Customers could add or remove their names or the web master could.

An online database could be set up to allow your customers and/or employees to access your information from anywhere in the world.

What is web hosting and why do I need it?

We are all as familiar with the Internet as we are with driving our cars, but do we know how a car works? The same is with the Internet. As we surf the Internet, we stop at different websites. But where are those websites? They are located on computers which are connected to the Internet, right? Yes, but what type of computers? Certain computers are connected to the Internet and their job is to provide a parking place to host web pages and websites. These computers are called servers and they are configured to allow Internet users to stop and view various web pages. These computers need to be configured and built to handle the traffic that will be visiting the websites. The computer that you are using allows you to visit the sites, but it may not be the ideal computer for hosting a website. Think of driving a car. There are many sizes and shapes. From compacts to large tractor trailers. The ideal vehicle for site seeing may not be the ideal vehicle for caring all your belongings. The same is true with web hosting.

A web hosting computer is connected to the Internet 7 days a week, 24 hours a day and everyone expects it to be up and running all the time. Periodically we need to take our cars in for general maintenance and repairs. During that time, we can not use our cars. A web hosting company can not have a computer out of commission. So what do they do? They use different techniques, one of which is to have duplicate computers doing the same job. Another technique is to have computers that can be repaired while they are working. This technique is called hot swapable.

We have all heard about computers being attacked on the Internet. These Crackers (Criminal Hackers) have shut down large computer networks and have caused other problems. Every Internet web site is exposed to these criminals. Some hire White Hat Hackers (the good computer experts) to help protect their system. This is like us having a security system in our house. But how elaborate of a system do we need? That is a major consideration for every web hosting company.

To answer the question, should I host my own website or hire a hosting company, you need to consider everything. The same as we do when we think about taking care of our vehicles. Are we in the business of being an auto mechanic or do we just need our vehicles working so that we can run our business? A web hosting company's sole job is to keep the web sites on line 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
